J.P. Crawford's Injury Not As Serious As Feared
5 years agoSeattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (ankle) will likely miss several weeks after going on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left ankle sprain, but manager Scott Servais said the injury wasn't as serious as initially feared. Crawford was on crutches with his left foot in a boot, but the X-rays showed no ligament tears and revealed a normal sprain. The team's shortstop of the future, Crawford was hitting .279/.343/.426 with six doubles, one home run and five RBI in 61 at-bats before his injury. He is useful in all leagues and should be stashed if you have the room. Tim Beckham will share duties at short with Dylan Moore in the meantime. Beckham has a .257/.311/.497 line with nine homers and 27 RBI, but his defense is a big dropoff from Crawford.
