J.P. Crawford Diagnosed With Fractured Hand
6 years agoAfter being removed from Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals in the aftermath of him getting hit in the left hand, infielder J.P. Crawford was given the start at third base and was batting ninth, but he was pulled after the incident. After the game concluded, manager Gabe Kapler revealed the diagnosis, and it was the worst possible scenario. Crawford was diagnosed with a broken left hand and will need up to six weeks to recover. This is a major blow for the 23-year-old, who just came back from a forearm strain two weeks ago. The Phillies, meanwhile, will have to continue using Scott Kingery as the primary shortstop. At the hot corner, Maikel Franco, who has been the odd man out since Crawford's return from his first disabled list stint, will benefit from everyday playing time now.
