J.P. Crawford Could Return Sunday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (concussion) "continues to improve" and could play in a minor-league rehab game this weekend with High-A Everett, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. If that goes well for Crawford, he could rejoin the Mariners as early as Sunday at the Houston Astros or early next week in Chicago. The 28-year-old shortstop landed on the seven-day concussion injured list last Friday after bumping heads with third baseman Eugenio Suarez while trying to field a ground ball earlier in the week. Until he returns, Jose Caballero and Dylan Moore will likely continue sharing playing time at the 6 in Seattle. Crawford doesn't stand out at the position in fantasy without much power or speed, but he's having a fine 2023 campaign, slashing .266/.379/.411 with 38 RBI and 63 runs scored in 384 at-bats.
