J.P. Crawford Activated, Shed Long Sent Down
5 years agoThe Seattle Mariners activated shortstop J.P. Crawford (ankle) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned infielder Shed Long to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. The M's also placed reliever Brandon Brennan (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with a strained right shoulder and called up reliever Matthew Festa from Tacoma. Crawford will return to everyday duties at shortstop after he hit a healthy .279/.343/.426 with a homer and five RBI in his first 61 at-bats. Crawford is the shortstop of the future for the M's and needs to be added where he was dropped in deeper mixed leagues. With Dee Gordon also back at second base, the club just didn't have regular playing time for Long anymore. Tim Beckham will now become the utility infielder and will lose valuable playing time moving forward.
