J.A. Happ A Good Fit For Phillies
6 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies have had ongoing talks with free-agent starting pitcher J.A. Happ over the last several days, and he appears to be their best fit, according to sources. The left-hander has experience pitching in Philadelphia and is seeking a three-year deal. The veteran southpaw is 36 years old but had 17 wins, a 3.65 ERA and a healthy 193 K's in 177 2/3 innings between the Yankees and Blue Jays last year, so he can certainly still help a rotation. The Phils are looking for a left-handed rotation piece after already losing out on Patrick Corbin, who signed with the division-rival Nationals.
