Israel Pineda Suffers Displacement In Right Pinky
2 years agoWashington Nationals catching prospect Israel Pineda (finger) was diagnosed with a displacement in his right pinky. Pineda was hit by a pitch on Saturday, nearly hitting him in the head. The Nats will run catching drills for Pineda and will regulate the severity of his injury. The 22-year-old is ranked 22nd on the Nationals Top-30 Prospects list and made his pro debut late last season. Pineda spent most of his 2022 campaign with the High-A Wilmington Blue Rockets and slashed .264/.325/.443. He also saw considerable time in Double-A and was promoted for a brief stint with Triple-A Rochester. Pineda is mainly regarded for his strong arm behind the plate, but his bat raises some concerns.
