Isiah Kiner-Falefa Could Have Super-Utility Role
2 years agoNew York Yankees infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa could end up serving in a super-utility role, according to manager Aaron Boone. This would only happen if Kiner-Falefa doesn't win the starting shortstop spot. However, it sounds like Oswald Peraza could very well win the job over him. If he does, Kiner-Falefa would be asked to play both infield and outfield for the Yankees this upcoming season. He hit .261/.314/.327 with four home runs and 22 steals in 142 games last season. A majority of his contributions come from his defense and speed, which doesn't make him an ideal fantasy option. He could be worth a look because of his speed. This super-utility role means he'll likely get significant at-bats in 2023.
