Isan Diaz Sinks Deeper And Deeper
4 years agoMiami Marlins second baseman Isan Diaz continued to sink deeper and deeper into his slump during Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Houston Astros. Diaz went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and is now hitless in his last 21 at bats. His spring batting average has fallen to .065 and he looks thoroughly overmatched at the plate, even when the opposing team has career minor leaguers pitching against him. Diaz came into spring training as the favorite to win the second base job, but if he somehow wins it over Jazz Chisholm (.286 batting average, .902 OPS), manager Don Mattingly will need to be fired on sight, regardless of his reign as National League Manager of the Year. Diaz does not need to be rostered in any fantasy format right now.
