Is John Hunter Nemechek A Core Play In DFS This Weekend?
8 months agoAfter a disappointing outing at Martinsville last weekend, John Hunter Nemechek will look to turn things around when he starts 30th in Sunday's Auto Trader EchoPark 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Heading into this weekend's race, the No. 42 looks like a driver that we will want to have plenty of exposure to when building our DFS lineups. Despite not having a Cup start in Fort Worth since 2020, in his three previous appearances at this track he finished better than where he started, averaging +5.3 in place differential. While a young driver consistently gaining track position is always promising, it is his performance on NASCAR's lower levels that should get us excited heading into Sunday's race. His 2021 Truck Series victory aside, in six Xfinity starts at this track he has two wins (2021 & 2023), four top-five finishes, and an average overall finish of eighth place. Although there is a difference between the Cup and Xfinity Series, it is hard to ignore a driver who has wins in 33% of his starts at a track, regardless of the series it occurred in. At a salary of just $6,500, on a track he has won at it in both Xfinity and Truck, at a starting position that provides place differential upside, John Hunter Nemechek looks like the core value play in DFS this weekend.
