Is Carson Hocevar A Value Play In DFS This Weekend?
9 months agoSpire Motorsports rookie Carson Hocevar will start 35th in Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Despite being his rookie season, Hocevar does have Cup experience at this track as he was given the opportunity to drive the No. 42 in place of the suspended Noah Gragson last fall. In that race the 21-year-old looked impressive, finishing 11th after starting 16th. Because one race is arguably too small of a sample size to properly gage a driver's performance on, we must use other indicators to help us determine if Hocevar is playable this weekend in DFS. Given his limited Cup experience and considering he does not have any starts in the Xfinity Series at this track, the only other indicator we have is his practice and qualifying data from Saturday, which was not great. During Saturday's practice, Hocevar looked like a rookie as he ranked 31st in fastest time with a lap time of 15.756 and qualified even slower with a lap time of 15.846. With limited Cup experience and no indication that he has speed heading into Sunday's race, it is recommended that you treat the No. 77 as nothing more than a dart throw this weekend in DFS.
