Ilya Samsonov Likely To Start On Saturday
10 months agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov is likely to start on Saturday against the visiting Edmonton Oilers. The Russian netminder made four straight starts before Joseph Woll started Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Washington Capitals. It's been a nice run for Samsonov after he was briefly sent to the minors earlier in the year as he sports a 2.58 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage across six games in the month of March, going 4-1-1 in that time. The overall numbers still don't look good after a disastrous start as the 27-year-old owns a 3.12 GAA and an .888 Sv% across 33 games, although he is still 18-6-7 thanks to a high-octane Maple Leafs offense.
