New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin backstopped the team to a 6-0 win over Pittsburgh in Wednesday's season opener, recording a 29-save shutout. The Rangers hadn't started the season with a shutout since 1956 when Gump Worsley helped the team to a 3-0 triumph over Chicago. Shesterkin became the fifth Rangers goalie overall to shut down the opposition in a season-opening game. It's the start of a contract year for Shesterkin, and it couldn't have gone any better. The Russian netminder will face the league's new boys, the Utah Hockey Club, in the next game on Saturday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
