Ian Kennedy Walked Off By Detroit
6 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Ian Kennedy has been surprisingly effective in a short-term relief role this season, but his old problems came back to haunt him on Sunday. Brought on to pitch in the 10th inning of a tie game, Kennedy scattered two singles amongst two outs to start the inning. However, with two strikes on Brandon Dixon, Kennedy left a hanging breaking ball out over the plate, and Dixon drove it into the seats in right-center to walk off the Royals. It's hard to trust Kennedy as a solid late-inning reliever yet, but outside of a few hiccoughs like this, he's actually been excellent so far. Owners should keep an eye on him. He may be the next Wade Davis.
