Ian Kennedy Earns Ninth Save On Wednesday
4 years agoTexas Rangers closer Ian Kennedy recorded his ninth save of the year in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. Kennedy pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one walk and no hits while striking out three. His nine saves have him tied with Alex Reyes for second in the Majors, behind Mark Melancon's MLB-leading 11 saves. It's been a fantastic year for Kennedy, who has a 1.93 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. He also has a 38.5% strikeout rate and just a 1.9% walk rate, both of which rank in the top 5% of the league. Few closers in the league have been as consistently effective as Kennedy so far this year.
