1 year agoToronto Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu (elbow) began throwing from a mound recently and is scheduled to toss a live bullpen on Thursday, according to MLB.com. The nine-year veteran has been on the shelf since June of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Before the injury, Ryu posted a 5.67 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 14.2% strikeout rate, arguably the worst production of his career, over 27 innings in 2022. Fantasy managers can't expect the 36-year-old to provide the same kind of numbers that made him a 2020 Cy Young candidate, and when he returns, hopefully near the All-Star break, he should be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.--Spencer Seguin
