Hunter Greene Shows Triple-Digit Velocity In Triple-A Debut
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene, the No. 56 overall prospect in baseball, touched 104.3 mph in his debut with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. However, it wasn't all great, as Greene also allowed four solo home runs and a walk while striking out eight over four innings of work. Since 2008, only five pitchers in the major leagues have reached 104 mph. Aroldis Chapman (67 times) and Jordan Hicks (12) are the only pitchers to reach that velocity more than once. The Reds No. 2 prospect allowed just nine runs on 27 hits and struck out 60 against 14 walks to go 5-0 with a 1.98 ERA over seven starts (41 innings) with Double-A Chattanooga before being promoted. Despite missing 2019 (Tommy John surgery) and 2020 (COVID-19 pandemic), Greene is one of the best overall pitching prospects in baseball, so he's worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues.
