10 months agoMaking his third appearance of the season and first start, Oakland Athletics pitcher Hogan Harris held his own in a no-decision versus the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Harris went 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, three runs (one earned), three walks and recorded seven strikeouts on the afternoon. Harris has pitched as both a starter and reliever in his career and would be lined up to face the Seattle Mariners next week, if he remains in the rotation. Harris is nothing more than a streamer at this point and can remain on the waiver wire.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

9 months agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Hogan Harris earned his second victory of the season with a strong performance versus the Houston Astros on Monday. Harris tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings, while allowing seven hits, two walks and striking out seven. The performance lowered his ERA to 2.98 on the season. Despite his low ERA, his xERA of 5.56 and FIP of 4.53 suggest that a big regression is coming soon. On a team that doesn't win much with data to suggest that his best days are behind him, Harris can safely remain on the waiver wire for most contests. Next up for Harris will be a favorable matchup versus the division rival Los Angeles Angels.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

9 months agoOakland Athletics left-hander Hogan Harris is back from the paternity list and will make the start on Friday in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Harris went on the paternity list on Tuesday but is now back after missing the last three days to make his final start before next week's All-Star break. The 27-year-old southpaw will be on six days of rest, and even though he's been decent with a 3.22 ERA in nine outings (seven starts) over 44 2/3 innings this year in his second season in the big leagues, he has a 4.63 FIP, 1.34 WHIP and an unattractive 18.3% strikeout rate. On the positive side, he's gone at least five innings in six of his last seven outings. Harris isn't a bad streaming option in AL-only leagues, but he should be avoided on Friday against one of the best lineups in baseball in the Phillies.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

10 months agoThe Oakland Athletics recalled left-hander Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday and placed left-hander Kyle Muller (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 27) with left-shoulder tendonitis in a corresponding move. Harris is making the spot start for the A's on Thursday in the series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 27-year-old southpaw will be making his first start of the year for the A's and only his seventh career big-league start after making six starts in his rookie year in 2023. In his two relief outings for the A's in 2024, Harris has allowed four earned runs on eight hits while walking three and fanning eight in 8 2/3 relief innings. He wasn't particularly effective as a starter in Vegas and has a 6.78 career ERA in the majors in 71 2/3 innings, so Harris is a streaming option to avoid on Thursday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

11 months agoOakland Athletics pitching prospect Hogan Harris was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday after the A's placed starter Joe Boyle on the IL with a lower back strain. Harris had a brief debut with the A's in 2023 that was mostly forgettable, with a 7.14 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 9.9% K-BB% over 14 appearances (six starts, 63 IP). Triple-A in 2024 has gone worse for the 27-year-old, posting a 9.00 ERA in six starts, allowing five home runs, a 20:21 BB:K, and an ugly 1.95 WHIP. At this point, Hogan has not been announced as a starter for any of the Athletics' upcoming games, and the A's do have a doubleheader Wednesday, but Hogan will likely be used for long relief anyway. Regardless, as far as fantasy is concerned, you're staying away.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
