Hector Santiago Ejected For Foreign Substance
3 years agoSeattle Mariners left-hander Hector Santiago became the first player in Major League Baseball to be ejected on Sunday after a foreign-substance inspection against the Chicago White Sox. The 33-year-old southpaw had gone 2 1/3 innings in the game, allowing one run on three hits while walking two and striking out four before the ejection. Santiago will now be suspended by the league for 10 games under the new foreign-substance rules for pitchers. Coming into the game, he was sporting a very nice 2.45 ERA with a 32.2% strikeout rate and 8.5% walk rate in eight relief outings over 14 2/3 innings for the M's. Santiago isn't much of a fantasy asset while pitching in relief, though, and he'll be out for the next 10 days.
