Hector Neris Earns Sixth Save
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris pitched a clean ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his sixth save of the season Friday vs the Rockies. It was only his second appearance since May 3. Phillies manager Gabe Kapler has made it clear he won't pick one guy as a closer but Neris is as good a bet as anyone in that bullpen. Neris has a 35.3 percent strikeout rate and elite ratios with a 2.08 ERA and .98 WHIP so he'll contribute in other ways if he doesn't get every save. Neris should be owned in all category-based formats.
