Hector Neris Continues Red-Hot Form
6 years agoFresh off being named the National League Reliever of the Month, Philadelphia Phillies reliever Hector Neris continued his scoreless streak Tuesday night in Miami. Coming on in the eighth after Jake Arrieta surrendered a home run, the 29-year-old allowed two hits, but struck out another and escaped the inning unharmed. In August, Neris pitched nine scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while incredibly striking out 20 batters. To put this into perspective, he tossed 9 2/3 innings in June and allowed 12 runs on 15 hits, getting sent down afterwards. Now, he appears to be in peak shape heading into the stretch.
