Griffin Canning Shut Down For Rest Of Year
5 years agoLos Angeles Angels rookie starting pitcher Griffin Canning's (elbow) MRI exam showed just mild elbow inflammation, but the Angels will play it safe and shut him down for the rest of the season. While this isn't how the 23-year-old wanted his first MLB season to end, there were more positives than negatives in his 17 starts and one relief outing for the Halos. Canning finishes 5-6 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 96 strikeouts and 30 walks in 90 1/3 innings. He'll surely be a big part of the team's rotation next year and has a bright future ahead. Canning should be relevant in all fantasy leagues in 2020. Jose Suarez is taking his spot in the rotation for now, but he should be avoided mostly everywhere.
