Greg Holland Earns The Save On Sunday

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Greg Holland was called upon for the save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out one. The team's primary closer, Josh Staumont (knee), was placed on the injured list earlier this week. This was the team's first save opportunity since that move. Kyle Zimmer pitched the seventh inning while Scott Barlow pitched the eighth on Sunday. Both Zimmer and Barlow could see save opportunities going forward, but Sunday's development puts Holland at the top of the current closer hierarchy in Kansas City. He's worth an add in all leagues where saves are highly coveted. He now has three saves on the year to go along with a 3.86 ERA and 1.77 WHIP.
