Gorgui Dieng Does Well In Rare Start
5 years agoMinnesota Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng replaced Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) in the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash with the Pelicans, and he played well in his third start of the season, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds. He shot 5-for-7 from the field and even nailed one three-point attempt. There's a back-to-back set coming up for Minnesota, and it's unclear if Towns will feature in those games, so Dieng could be set for a couple of more starts. He's averaging 13.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.7 minutes as a starter this season. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Denver, who have a top-class defense, but they struggle against centers.
