Giovanny Gallegos Charged With The Blown Save On Thursday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Giovanny Gallegos (0-2) allowed two runs on one hit without recording an out during Thursday's 7-6 loss to the New York Mets. He was charged with the blown save and tagged with his second loss of the season. The 30-year-old entered the game in the bottom of the 10th frame with a one-run lead and a runner on second base. The right-hander surrendered a two-run walk-off homer to Pete Alonso. It was his second loss and second blown save of the year. He is 7-for-9 in save opportunities and remains Cardinals' primary closer. Gallegos owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts over 13 innings in 2022.
