4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Giovanny Gallegos will be absent from the team's early summer camp workouts as he remains in his native country of Mexico, according to a source. The team hasn't explained the exact nature of his absence yet. Gallegos has some time to get to the States, but this is a minor concern, as he's expected to be the team's primary closer to begin the year with Jordan Hicks (elbow) still recovering from Tommy John surgery last year. As long as Gallegos doesn't miss most or all of spring training 2.0, he should be considered a low-end No. 2 reliever for fantasy owners. It was later confirmed that Gallegos' absence is due to travel issues, so he should eventually make his way to the team's summer camp and be ready for the start of the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
