Gio Gonzalez Close To Deal With Yankees
6 years agoThe New York Yankees are close to inking free-agent starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez to a minor league deal, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Gonzalez would be paid $3 million in base salary if he makes the major league roster and he could ask for his release if he's not added to the roster by April 20. The 33-year-old has plenty of experience in the big leagues and went 10-11 with a 4.21 ERA with the Nationals and Brewers last year. He pitched much better for the Brew Crew after being traded, but he'll be a risky starter in deep mixed leagues and AL-only setups if he's pitching in the Yankees starting rotation.
