Giants Extend Sterling Shepard
6 years agoThe New York Giants finalized a four-year, $41 million contract extension with wide receiver Sterling Shepard on Wednesday, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Shepard was set to have a base salary of $1.2 million in the final year of his deal in 2019. The deal will make him the team's highest paid player. New York signed Golden Tate in free agency, but Shepard is expected to be the No. 1 wideout after Odell Beckham Jr. was traded to Cleveland. He has done most of his damage out of the slot in his career, but expect him to bounce outside in 2019. He has 190 catches for 2,286 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career, averaging 12 yards per catch. Shepard should have a chance to improve on his career numbers from 2018.
