Giants Agree With Yangervis Solarte
6 years agoThe San Francisco Giants agreed to a minor league deal with free-agent infielder Yangervis Solarte on Friday. The deal includes an invite to spring training, and his deal will be worth $1.75 million with an additional $250,000 in incentives if he makes the big league roster. The 31-year-old can play all four infield spots, but most of his experience has come at the hot corner. Solarte is also willing to play some left field. The switch hitter battled a hamstring injury in 2018 and hit .266 with a .655 OPS and 17 homers in his only season in Toronto. He has double-digit homers in each of his five seasons and also makes plenty of contact. Solarte isn't a bad utility guy to have, but his fantasy upside is limited and he should only be owned in NL-only leagues.
