Giants Acquire Mark Canha From The Tigers
4 months agoThe San Francisco Giants acquired outfielder Mark Canha from the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday in exchange for pitching prospect Eric Silva, according to a source. Canha will essentially be a right-handed-hitting outfielder that will help replace Jorge Soler, who was dealt to the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. The 35-year-old veteran doesn't have as much raw power as Canha, though, but he could also be an option at first base for the Giants, in addition to a corner-outfield spot and designated hitter. The 10-year big-league veteran hit a very pedestrian .231/.337/.350 with a below-average .687 OPS, seven home runs, 38 RBI, four stolen bases and 42 runs scored in 93 games for Detroit before the trade. Canha will continue to have a low fantasy ceiling as he returns to the Bay Area but should play regularly for the Gigantes.
