Giancarlo Stanton Placed On 10-Day Injured List With Quad Strain
4 years agoNew York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left quad strain. Stanton was scratched from Friday's lineup due to the ailment, then sat out the weekend's slate of games before the Yankees ultimately opted to place him on the injured list. Judging by the Yankees' initial prognosis, it doesn't sound like the slugger will be sidelined for long- though fantasy managers can be forgiven for assuming the worst, given his inability to stay healthy in the past. Stanton was enjoying an excellent start to the season, with a .282/.347/.534 slash line, nine homers, and 24 RBI in 33 games. The team called up pitcher Albert Abreu to take Stanton's roster spot, though Rougned Odor (knee) is nearing a return and could be the eventual roster replacement. The Yankees figure to use the designated hitter spot to give some of their players a day off from the field, much like how they did with Aaron Judge over the weekend.
