Giancarlo Stanton Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks
2 years agoAn MRI exam on New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) showed a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, according to a person with knowledge of the team's personnel decisions. Stanton was placed on the injured list on Sunday and will now miss four to six weeks, and considering his lengthy injury history, the Yankees could choose to treat him conservatively and hold him out even longer. Willie Calhoun served as New York's designated hitter on Sunday against the Twins and should see more playing time moving forward, although third baseman Josh Donaldson (hamstring) is on the cusp of a return from his own IL stint. The 33-year-old Stanton has elite power, but the five-time All-Star continues to miss valuable time due to injuries. He had four homers and 11 RBI in 13 games before landing on the IL.
