5 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (hamstring) is set to return to the rotation on Thursday against the Tigers after being scratched from a start last week with hamstring discomfort. Cole threw a bullpen session on Monday and performed pitcher's fielding practice and is "feeling good." The hard-throwing right-hander was the American League Player of the Month in both June and July and is the front-runner for the AL Cy Young, going 14-5 with a 2.87 ERA in his 25 starts. Cole is second in the AL in strikeouts (226) and was 10-0 with a 1.98 ERA with 22 walks and 126 strikeouts in his last 14 starts.
