6 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez will not be in the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. Monday night's loss against the Rays was a bit of a nightmare for Sanchez. First, he made a terrible play on a passed ball that allowed the Rays to score. Then, in the ninth inning, with a chance to beat an out at first base, it seemed like Sanchez showed no effort to run hard. News broke of him possibly aggravating a previous injury to his groin, so it's safe to assume Sanchez's benching on Tuesday is for precautionary reasons. Backup catcher Austin Romine will start behind the plate in his stead.--Mauricio Castillo
