Garrett Richards Shuts Down The Athletics
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starter Garrett Richards turned in another excellent performance, shutting out the Oakland Athletics across six superb innings in Boston on Thursday. Appearing healthy for the first time in years, Richards has now allowed six earned runs across his past four starts, totaling 26 innings in the process. Always talented but often injured, the flamethrower appears to have rekindled his old flame in Boston this season. Richards' start didn't come without drama, as Mark Canha attempted to lean into a pitch for a cheap hit-by-pitch, with the pitch ultimately being ruled a strike. Richards then had some choice words for Canha and threw a fastball high and tight on the very next pitch. Clearly upset, the attempted free base did nothing to deter Richards' dominant performance. It's still unlikely that Richards will remain healthy all season, but if you want to buy in, now is the time.
