Garrett Hampson Steals Another Base
6 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman/shortstop Garrett Hampson got a rare start on Tuesday night, and he made good on it by knocking a single and stealing his second career base off Clayton Kershaw. Hampson played well at Triple-A this year, and he's the team's likely starting second baseman next year since DJ LeMahieu is a free agent after the season. Hampson racked up six home runs and 17 stolen bases while hitting .314 at Triple-A. He'll likely land a few more starts this week while starting shortstop Trevor Story is sidelined with elbow inflammation, but he isn't expected to be an everyday player until 2019.
