Garrett Crochet Impresses In Season Debut
4 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Garrett Crochet had a strong season debut versus the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. The lefty fireballer went 2 1/3 innings and didn't allow a hit, run or walk on the evening. He also punched out three Angels and exited with a chance to pick up his first victory, but Evan Marshall struggled and eventually picked up the loss for the White Sox. Crochet was drafted as a starting pitcher, but the White Sox will use him out of relief in rookie season with the hopes that he could be a strong multi-inning option out of the pen. Crochet can hit the upper 90s of the radar gun and compliments it with a nasty slider. The lefty may not pick up saves, but can be valuable in leads that value ratios and holds.
