Garrett Cooper, Matt Joyce Candidates For DH Role
4 years agoWith the designated hitter being used in both leagues this season, Miami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper and outfielder Matt Joyce are two candidates to be used in the role a lot. Cooper is the much more attractive fantasy commodity in deeper leagues for his ability to hit for average and modest power for the Fish. He has a better shot at consistent playing time with the DH now in play in the National League, but even then Cooper could be at risk of losing valuable at-bats if he starts slow. Joyce, who turns 36 in August, had only 200 at-bats for the Braves last year but did hit an impressive .295 with seven home runs and 23 RBI. Don't expect those kind of numbers in Miami with limited playing time.
