Garrett Cooper Goes Hitless on Monday
5 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder/first baseman Garrett Cooper had a rough day at the plate in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Washington Nationals. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, lowering his spring batting average to .286. Cooper showed that, when healthy, he could be a legitimate fantasy asset last season, but he had a hard time staying on the field. This led Marlins manager Don Mattingly to say that he doesn't think Cooper is an every day player on the Marlins roster. That could change, of course, if Cooper hits to his potential, but until he proves Mattingly wrong, Cooper is not much of a fantasy consideration outside of the deepest formats.
