Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (illness) is on the cusp of returning to the lineup. Hurricanes president and general manager Don Waddell told Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer on Thursday that Andersen should be playing "hopefully in this next week sometime." Andersen hasn't seen any action since early November, when he was ruled out indefinitely with a blood clotting issue. He went 4-1-0 in the few starts he made early in the campaign, registering a 2.87 goals-against average with a .894 save percentage. Carolina has coped with Andersen's absence incredibly well, with Pyotr Kochetkov, Antti Raanta (lower body), and Spencer Martin helping the team to the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. With his colleagues in top form, Andersen might have to settle for a lighter workload than he's used to once he's back.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
