11 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta has been reinstated from his five-game suspension and is making the start on Saturday against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Peralta was given a five-game suspension for throwing at Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jose Siri on April 30. The 27-year-old likely went through his in-between-starts routine this week after last starting on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs, so he shouldn't have his workload limited in any way on Saturday in a good matchup against St. Louis. The Cardinals currently have the fourth-worst OPS (.631) in all of baseball. Only the offenses of the White Sox, Marlins and Pirates are worse. Peralta is 3-1 on the year with a 3.49 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 50 K's in 38 2/3 innings over his seven starts. Start him on Saturday against St. Louis.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

5 months agoThe Milwaukee Brewers will be picking up their 2025 club option on starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, according to Jon Heyman of the NY Post. The 28-year-old operated as the ace of the Milwaukee rotation in 2024 and held a 3.68 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, with a 68:200 BB:K ratio across 173 2/3 frames of work. Under the hood, the right-hander boasted a solid 36.9% hard-hit rate and a 27.6% K rate. However, he held a below-average 8.7% barrel rate and a 37.4% ground-ball rate. Fantasy managers should expect Peralta to continue to operate as the lead of the Milwaukee rotation and be a safe bet to improve your WHIP ratio as he sits with a strong career 1.15 WHIP.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

9 months agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta was excellent on Sunday, throwing seven innings of one-run ball in a 7-1 win over the Chicago Cubs. Peralta allowed a lead-off homer to Nico Hoerner but gave up just one hit and two walks after that, striking out eight in the process. It's been a bit of a roller coaster season for the 28-year-old, with fantasy managers (and the Brewers themselves) not knowing what he's going to do in any given start. All in all, though, it's been a pretty nice season, as Peralta has a 6-4 record with a 3.83 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 120 strikeouts in 94 IP. He should be viewed as a must-start given his upside.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

9 months agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta was dominant in a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. Peralta tossed six innings of shutout ball, striking out eight while allowing just three hits and walking two. The 28-year-old racked up 18 swinging strikes in the game on the way to improving his record to 5-4 on the year. An elite source of strikeouts in fantasy, Peralta will take a 4.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts over 82 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come Monday against the Texas Rangers.--Matt T - RotoBaller

10 months agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta made a quality start but took the loss Wednesday in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Marlins. Peralta allowed a solo home run to the first batter he saw, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and that was the difference in the ballgame. Peralta went seven innings allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out seven. It was a much-needed bounce-back game from the 27-year-old, as he had allowed three earned runs or more in four of his last five starts, including five earned his last time out. The righty now has a 3.81 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a strong 23.0% K-BB% on the season. He'll take on the Cubs in his next start next Monday at home.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller
