Freddy Galvis Could Return By End Of July
Baltimore Orioles shortstop Freddy Galvis (quadriceps) will start rehabbing his strained right quad at the team's spring training complex shortly after the All-Star break, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Galvis is recovering ahead of schedule and could return by July 30. The 31-year-old veteran infielder will return to a .249/.306/.414 slash line, nine home runs, 36 runs scored and 26 RBI in 249 at-bats for the O's this year. Now that he's not a threat to steal double-digit bases, which he hasn't done since 2017, Galvis is merely infield depth in AL-only leagues at this point in his career. Ramon Urias, who has been filling in at shortstop, is much more attractive in those same leagues, as he's hit .284 (29-for-102) with four home runs and 14 RBI in 37 games this year.
