Freddy Galvis Could Return By End Of July
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Freddy Galvis (quadriceps) will start rehabbing his strained right quad at the team's spring training complex shortly after the All-Star break, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Galvis is recovering ahead of schedule and could return by July 30. The 31-year-old veteran infielder will return to a .249/.306/.414 slash line, nine home runs, 36 runs scored and 26 RBI in 249 at-bats for the O's this year. Now that he's not a threat to steal double-digit bases, which he hasn't done since 2017, Galvis is merely infield depth in AL-only leagues at this point in his career. Ramon Urias, who has been filling in at shortstop, is much more attractive in those same leagues, as he's hit .284 (29-for-102) with four home runs and 14 RBI in 37 games this year.
