5 months agoLos Angeles Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is in the lineup for Game 1 of the World Series against the New York Yankees on Friday. Freeman has been nursing an ankle injury since the final week of the regular season and has missed a few postseason games, including Game 6 of the NLCS. The extra week of rest before the World Series provided Freeman with enough time to get to a point where he can play, but he likely won't be at 100%. Either way, Freeman provides the Dodgers with another excellent bat that they will need against Gerrit Cole.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

1 day agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) will miss his third straight game on Wednesday evening at Dodger Stadium against the winless Atlanta Braves. With Freeman out again after aggravating his right-ankle injury during a slip in the shower on Sunday, Enrique Hernandez will make another start at the cold corner and will hit eighth against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder. The Dodgers have the day off on Thursday, so the earliest we'll see the 35-year-old Freeman again for the Blue will be for Friday's series opener in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Fantasy managers will want to check back then to see if Freeman is feeling good enough to play. Kike has gone just 2-for-15 in the early going through four games for L.A., but both of his hits have gone over the fence and he's driven in four runs. Hernandez will be a boom/bust DFS power option on Wednesday against a pitcher he's never faced.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Dodger Stadium and likely won't play again until Friday, at the earliest, according to 570 LA Sports' David Vassegh. Freeman slipped and fell on his right ankle in the shower on Sunday morning, but thankfully X-rays showed that he didn't damage his surgically-repaired right ankle. Enrique Hernandez will get another start at first base on Tuesday and will hit sixth against Braves left-hander Chris Sale, who won the National League Cy Young award last season. Fantasy managers will be without the 35-year-old Freeman for another few days, but he should be back in L.A.'s lineup at some point this weekend for a showdown in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Through three games played, Freeman has gone 3-for-12 with two homers, a double and four RBI for the Blue.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is out of Monday night's lineup. Freeman re-aggravated his ankle injury in what manager Dave Roberts is calling a "mishap" from Freeman stepping into the shower. The 35-year-old is currently considered day-to-day and should not be considered serious. Enrique Hernandez is filling in at first base and will bat eighth in the Dodgers' lineup. Hernandez only has one hit in eight PA this season, though his one hit is a HR. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues are likely the only ones who can benefit from Hernandez starting tonight. DFS managers looking for a cheap longshot may want to consider adding the 33-year-old as well.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (rib, ankle) is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the Tokyo, Japan series against the Chicago Cubs. Freeman was a late scratch on Tuesday due to rib discomfort and will miss his second straight game. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Freeman feels much better than he did on Tuesday, but the Dodgers are being cautious with their star first baseman early on. The 35-year-old had rib discomfort on Tuesday in the same spot he tore rib cartilage during the postseason. Freeman remains day-to-day, but the Dodgers are optimistic he will return to the lineup on March 27 against the Detroit Tigers. Kike Hernandez will handle first base duties and is batting sixth in Wednesday's contest versus the Cubs.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
