7 years agoIf it hasn't already happened, Mets fans will start sweating every time Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman strides to the plate. Freeman has taken Chipper Jones' Mets killer mantle and he did it again Tuesday night, going deep on a night that saw him drive in a run and score another run. The hulking lefty hitter is one of the most dangerous hitters in the game and deserves to be in your lineups every day.--Michael Griffin - RotoBaller

24 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Dodger Stadium and likely won't play again until Friday, at the earliest, according to 570 LA Sports' David Vassegh. Freeman slipped and fell on his right ankle in the shower on Sunday morning, but thankfully X-rays showed that he didn't damage his surgically-repaired right ankle. Enrique Hernandez will get another start at first base on Tuesday and will hit sixth against Braves left-hander Chris Sale, who won the National League Cy Young award last season. Fantasy managers will be without the 35-year-old Freeman for another few days, but he should be back in L.A.'s lineup at some point this weekend for a showdown in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Through three games played, Freeman has gone 3-for-12 with two homers, a double and four RBI for the Blue.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (ankle) is out of Monday night's lineup. Freeman re-aggravated his ankle injury in what manager Dave Roberts is calling a "mishap" from Freeman stepping into the shower. The 35-year-old is currently considered day-to-day and should not be considered serious. Enrique Hernandez is filling in at first base and will bat eighth in the Dodgers' lineup. Hernandez only has one hit in eight PA this season, though his one hit is a HR. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues are likely the only ones who can benefit from Hernandez starting tonight. DFS managers looking for a cheap longshot may want to consider adding the 33-year-old as well.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (rib, ankle) is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the Tokyo, Japan series against the Chicago Cubs. Freeman was a late scratch on Tuesday due to rib discomfort and will miss his second straight game. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Freeman feels much better than he did on Tuesday, but the Dodgers are being cautious with their star first baseman early on. The 35-year-old had rib discomfort on Tuesday in the same spot he tore rib cartilage during the postseason. Freeman remains day-to-day, but the Dodgers are optimistic he will return to the lineup on March 27 against the Detroit Tigers. Kike Hernandez will handle first base duties and is batting sixth in Wednesday's contest versus the Cubs.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (rib) was scratched ahead of Tuesday morning's season-opening win against the Cubs. The team described the injury as "rib discomfort," and after the game, Freeman said that the injury is in the same place as the injury he dealt with at the end of last year. He added that the injury is not nearly as severe and that he wanted to play through the issue, but the team chose to be cautious. While a recurrence of the issue is definitely a cause for concern, he said he was told he has a 75% chance of playing on Wednesday when the Dodgers face Justin Steele to close out the two-game set in Tokyo against the Cubs. The team will then have about a week off before opening the rest of their regular season with a home game against the Tigers. If Freeman is out again Wednesday, Kike Hernandez could get another start at first as he did on Tuesday.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller
