Franmil Reyes Launches First Career Homer
San Diego Padres outfielder Franmil Reyes launched his first career home run Monday against the Washington Nationals. Reyes connected off starter Gio Gonzalez in the fourth inning for a two-run, opposite-field blast. Recalled on May 14 for his prodigious power, Reyes is off to a slow start with only three hits and seven strikeouts in 21 plate appearances. With outfielder Hunter Renfroe (elbow) nearing a return, Reyes' skill set may become redundant. The Padres have a crowded outfield and they may opt to send the 22-year-old Reyes back to Triple-A El Paso to continue his development. Barring any roster transactions, Reyes is likely a power option in only the deepest fantasy leagues.
