Frankie Montas Surrenders Six Runs In Defeat
2 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Frankie Montas was touched up by the Blue Jays in his club's 9-2 loss on Thursday night. The righty gave up six earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out just two over his six frames of work. Most of the damage he allowed came in a five-run second inning that was capped by a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. three-run homer to the short porch in right field. He settled down after that by retiring the next seven batters he faced, but ran into trouble again in the fifth when the Jays tacked on another run. Montas hasn't been sharp since his move to the Bronx with an 8/6 K/BB with 14 earned runs in as many innings pitched, but he's still worth trotting out there in starting lineups for his next start versus the Mets next week.
