Framber Valdez Will Not Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
4 years agoThe Houston Astros have announced that starting pitcher Framber Valdez (finger) will not need to undergo surgery. His fractured left ring finger is healing well. While there is no timetable for his return, Valdez has avoided the worst case scenario as there was wide speculation that he'd miss the entire 2021 season if surgery were required. Valdez had a breakout year in 2020, going 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.118 WHIP while averaging 9.7 K/9. He's someone worth targeting in the late rounds of most fantasy drafts. He'll miss at least a few months of the regular season, but if he continues to heal well and comes back strong, he could be a solid asset down the stretch for fantasy managers.
