Framber Valdez Throws Seven No-Hit Innings In No-Decision
1 year agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez completed seven scoreless innings without giving up a hit in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The lefty did not factor into the decision but walked five batters while striking out six on Friday night. His pitch count stopped him from trying to complete a no-hitter, as he was pulled after 114 pitches. He had 16 swings and misses on the night and lowered his ERA to 3.40. Unfortunately, the Astros could only muster up one run and couldn't get Valdez the win for his brilliant performance after closer Ryan Pressly blew the save. Pressly was charged with loss after surrendering four runs in 2/3 of an inning. Valdez owns a 3.40 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 159:43 K: BB across 161 2/3 innings in 2023. The 29-year-old will look to build on Friday's performance in his next start scheduled for Wednesday on the road against the Red Sox.
