The Philadelphia Flyers have immediately placed center Ryan Johansen on waivers. The veteran was acquired as part of the trade that sent defenseman Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday but his inclusion was strictly financially related. He is owed $4 million in the final year of his deal next season as the Flyers took that salary off Colorado's books in order to secure a first-round pick in the swap. Johansen has struggled this season, his first in Colorado, with just 23 points in 63 games while averaging just 13:39 of ice time per game, his lowest figure since his 2011-12 rookie season. He will almost certainly clear waivers before potentially being sent to the minors.--Brenton Kemp
