Filip Johansson Goes 24th Overall To Wild
6 years agoWith their first-round selection, the Minnesota Wild added Swedish defenseman Filip Johansson to the organization. Johansson’s stock rose considerably over the course of last season, and he climbed from 17th to 10th in the NHL’s central-scouting rankings among European skaters. A product of the Leksands IF organization, Johansson split last season in the SuperElit and was called up to the Allsvenskan for 23 games. He was most impressive representing Sweden at the Ivan Hlinka tournament, amassing a goal and three assists in five games while helping Sweden capture bronze. His top skills are his agility and edge work, allowing him to defend the rush effectively. He has potential to fill a top-four role but will need time in Sweden to improve his game.
