Fernando Tatis Jr. Could Return As An Outfielder
2 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (wrist) remains without a timetable for a return. He has yet to be cleared to swing a bat at full capacity and the team is unwilling to release a return timetable until he begins that phase of his recovery. He's scheduled to meet with a doctor at the end of this week and there's speculation that he could be cleared to hit after the appointment. AJ Cassavell of MLB.com recently ventured the idea that Tatis could return as an outfielder once he's ready this year, rather than as a shortstop. The 23-year-old played in the outfield last year after returning from a shoulder injury. Not only would playing outfield be less of a burden on his body, but the team might have more of a need in the outfield right now than they do in the infield.
